Geza Techy
Geza B. Techy, Ph.D., received his B.A. from Hope College, Holland, Michigan, M.S. from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana and Ph. D. from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles under the direction of Robert F. Bils, Ph.D. During the doctoral program, he received extensive training in electron microscopy and tissue culture. Postdoctoral work was conducted at the Huntington Medical Research Institutes under the mentorship of Marylou Ingram, M.D. and involved the isolation, growth and characterization of T-lymphocyte subsets and the treatment of spontaneously occurring canine brain tumors by stimulated autologous T-lymphocytes. The research also involved the development of effector-tumor target cell models for clinical immunotherapy trials of human malignant gliomas. Autologous stimulated lymphocytes were prepared for therapeutic implantation into the tumor bed of patients with recurrent malignant gliomas. Subsequently, he developed expertise in the isolation and the establishment of both normal and tumor cell lines, notably newborn foreskin fibroblasts, breast and prostate tumor cells and fibroblasts and numerous glioma cell lines. His most recent research has been devoted to the development of 3 dimensional fibroblast-tumor cell constructs for the ultimate utilization in the testing of chemotherapeutic agents.
