Lawrence W. Jones, MD
has been associated with HMRI since 1974, when he completed his medical training and military service and joined the Pasadena Urological Medical Group. Combining strong interest in research with the practice of medicine, he has been a clinical collaborator to HMRI's cell culture and prostate cancer research programs. He attended Yale University and UC Berkeley before receiving his medical degree from UC San Francisco. Through residency programs at LA County-USC Medical Center and a research fellowship at UC San Francisco, he specialized in urological surgery. He has won several prizes for laboratory investigation.
Dr. Jones is immediate past president of the American Association of Clinical Urologists (AACU). He is also past president of the Western Section of the American Urological Association (AUA), the California Urological Association, and the Pasadena Medical Society. He has served on the Board of Directors of the AACU, the AUA, and the American Foundation for Urologic Disease. He is Editor-in-Chief of the American Urological Association Centennial History. He represents the AUA as a delegate in the House of Delegates of the American Medical Association.
He is Principal Investigator for a Phase I/II clinical trial of a novel agent for hormone refractory prostate cancer. He is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Huntington Medical Research Institutes and the American Foundation for Urological Disease.
