Altadena Guild -- HMRI's Partner Through the Years

The Altadena Guild was founded in 1951 and supports the work of Huntington Medical Research Institutes (HMRI) and Huntington Hospital through volunteering and fundraising, including a home tour in the spring and golf tournament in the fall. The 2005-2006 president is Maureen Savage.

Proceeds from both these fundraising events have made possible the purchase of sophisticated and costly research equipment for HMRI, as well as summer fellowships for promising young students, many of whom have gone on to careers in medicine and research. The Guild held its first benefit, a tour of three Altadena homes, in 1952 yielding a profit of $428. More than $1,494,857.77 has been donated to HMRI.

With the proceeds from the 54th Annual Home Tour in 2005, Guild money and Guild members maintain and staff research libraries located at two of HMRI's facilities, and many members donate extra time to HMRI throughout the year for special events and projects such as employee recognition programs, decorating for the holidays, and providing warm hospitality for research participants in the labs.

Please call our Voicemail at (626) 304-4678 for information about Guild activities and membership, or to have your name included on our mailing list. Visit our Web site at http://www.altadenaguild.org
